Depiction:
This is a lyrical wash painting. it is were I chose a song that had some sort of meaning to me and I painted it in a way that represents how it made me feel. I started with choosing colors that reminded me of the song I chose, Soldiers by Otherwise. For me, these colors were variations of reds and oranges. I started with simple washes, all going in a strait line. To me this small detail represents you can either march forward towards your problems and trials, or you can turn tail and flee, being a coward.

Red Rocks Artist Statement
I was born in the northern Utah area. I have always loved the state I was born in and wished to do something connected to it. Utah is known for its red rocks, so I searched up “Utah Red Rocks” and looked around a bit and found this photo. I fell in love with it due to its detail and colors. My drawing was made with oil pastels. I chose to solely use this material for this drawing because of how difficult oil pastels can be to use and I wanted to prove I can do the whole thing without needing to use anything else other than a pencil and oil pastels.
