Precalculus End of Year Work/Reflection

Over the course of this year, I have certainly grown as a mathematician. At the beginning of the year I would often quickly do my math in my head or on paper but skipping a lot of steps for the sake of time. Now I have learned the value of tracking my steps and rechecking my work in order to locate errors in my work and be able to correct them. This has also helped me when I check other people's work because I can make sure all the steps are correct. This shows a great growth in my skill of recognizing and resolving errors. I have also shown a growth in communicating my thinking in a clear and accessible way. I was already somewhat good and thinking in clear ways. But I have become more creative at making problems make sense in different ways, such as creating a scenario for it, and asking clarifying questions. I used to be single minded with problems and would think that I can only answer it in the terms it's given me. But as my POW 4 shows, I can make my own scenarios for problems and answer them that way.
Along with growing as a mathematician, I have also grown in AHS's Habits of Heart and Mind. While I would use and display the Habits of Heart and Mind, I was alway just a little bit weak in them. However, During this year I have grown in refinement and evidence. Everytime we wrote a POW for pre-calculus, we were expected to show evidence for our work to support it and to have good refined work. Because I often wanted to get good grades on my POWs, I worked hard to meet all of the requirements for them. This constant exercise for refinement and evidence has helped me start to use them unconsciously and know what steps to take in order to accomplish them.
The difficult learning this class has given me has certainly helped me to think through difficult problems and give more insights on how to solve them. This class has been helpful to my learning and thinking skills and will prepare me for my future.
